Looking Good | Bella Blvd

Hey Scrappy Friends!  I'm here today with a layout based on sketch 309 by Creative Scrappers. I flipped the sketch to accommodate the orientation of my photo and used a pocket life card in place of the second photo.  I think this is my number one tip for sketches...don't be afraid to rotate them to fit your photos.

Everything on the page, except the enamel dots, is from the Bella Blvd Max collection.  I've had this collection for quite some time and it was the next up in my stash busting challenge.  The one thing I altered about the embellishments was the every day dude circle used to be a flower.  For me flowers don't scream boy, and I didn't like how large it was for the space so I cut it down.
To finish it off I added some Dylusions white linen splatters. I use this white ink because it stays on white on the dark surfaces.  Others I've tried just disappeared into the paper.
Okay - enough chattering from me for now...I should go create something!  Until next time...keep creating!

Creative Top Ten All About My Favorites Scrapbook Layout

Happy National Scrapbook Day Scrappy Friends! I have the distinct honor of running one of the challenges for this weekend over on the Victoria Marie Facebook Group.  The challenge I came up with was to create a project with your top ten current favorite things.
I thought this was going to be super easy right...I mean we all have things we love.  When I actually sat down to plan though...super hard.  Narrowing your whole life down to ten things!  If you'll notice though...work was not on the list...lol

As per usual I started with a sketch...This one was from Creative Scrapper Volume Three.  The sketch had a huge amount of journalling on the right side, and I thought that was a great place for my top ten.
The paper on the right in from the Authentique collection all Favorite and was perfect for this theme.  The numbers and tiny word stickers are also from Authentique.
I didn't care for the photo on the other pieces from the collection though so I pulled out a 6x6 pad from My Minds Eye called Moments.  The scrappy challenge of this was though that it was white and the Authentique is cream.  Tim Holtz distress pads in Antique Linen to the rescue.
If you're not a member of the Victoria Marie group I hope that you'll consider joining for loads more inspiration and new scrappy friends.

It's A Girl

I love being on vacation!  I haven't gotten this much done in awhile, and even then it's not much!  This is another photo taken during our daughters newborn shoot.  She was so very good.
This is a sketch from Creative Scrappers and a mood board from Scrap the Girls. The mood board had different shades of pink as well as a gold glitter.  I used the shades of pink and the rest of the mood board reminded me of a celebration, and what's a better reason to celebrate than a newborn baby!
Paper is the It's A Girl collection from Carta Bella.  I will say I had a really hard time matching the pinks on this one to anything in my stash.
Well....I better run - the Christmas cookie timer is calling my name.  Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Kindergarten

Each time I finally get a layout done and photographed now I'm amazed at how long it's been since I've blogged.
I completed this one a week or so ago and it only took me about an hour.  I swear that since I've been doing boy layouts for six years they come so much easier than doing one for the little lady.
The sketch came from a collaboration between My Creative Scrapbook/Sketches and Creative Scrappers.

The cards and embellishments are from Simple Stories School collection...while the yardstick just came from my stash.  The title is from Paper Wizard. If you haven't checked out their diecuts you really should.  Paper Wizard and Dancing Daisy Designs are my go too for professional layered cuts.
Well - I'm off for now as nap time is almost over.  I hope to check in with you all again sooner than later!

Child's Play Challenge Reveal

Hi Everyone, and welcome to my first DT reveal for Child's Play Challenges. I loved participating here, and am honored to have been chosen to be on the team.
My first assignment was Colorforms.  I don't remember having these as a child so I had to go another direction.
The original toy was just shapes in red and blue.  Since we are revealing two days before Fourth of July I went that direction and then used blocks of paper to mimic the squares in the toy after I saw this awesome sketch from Creative Scrappers.  I left the photo and journalling spot blank because my Dad's birthday is Fourth of July so this page is all ready for a photo of him and our little man, and some journalling of what we did that day.
All the papers are from Doodlebug Designs.  The stars are modeling paste mixed with pearl medium and then topped with crystal glitter...it gives a really nice depth to the page.
I hope to see you enter our challenges - they are so fun.  Until next time...Keep scrappin!
