Doodlebug Mini For Practical Scrappers

Hi everyone and welcome to the October Hop for Practical Scrappers.  You should have arrived from Majken's blog.  For the hop this time we were challenged to use the theme of Fall or Halloween.  I wanted to use up some of my old Doodlebug Halloween paper, but didn't have enough embellishments so I mixed two older paper lines and some new stickers and Doodle-Pops.

All the edges are inked with black ink to add to the Halloween feel, but I also find when using a pre-made chipboard album inking can help hide if your paper isn't cut perfectly to size.  Another tool I like when using pre-cut chipboard is Creek Bank Creations Sanding Sticks.  They allow you to file the edges of any paper that may be hanging over for a clean edge.

     Since the pages were so small to begin with I tried to keep the embellishments fairly simple so there was still enough room for a real photo.  I think what ended up being my favorite embellishment was the candy corn cut out.  I coated each of the corn with crystal laquer so they are shiny and raised...looks like candy behind a glass case. Fall College Trip Layout

     When I saw the double page sketch over at ScrapMuch? the beginning of the month I knew exactly what photos and paper I wanted to use with it. For whatever reason the sketch just screamed fall layout to me. The paper is from Close To My Heart's Pathfinding collection from the Paper Crafter Anonymous website.
     The photos are from a recent trip my parents took our son on to visit my sister at college. I loved how the hints of aqua in the green paper matches my sisters shirt perfectly.   I think the photo on the second page of her holding M is my favorite....really shows how happy they are to see each other.

     The title is the initials of my sisters school (Lancaster Bible College) in an awesome green corrugated cardstock, and the tag I colored myself with an inkpad and blending tool.
     Since there was so much white space I used my Prima chalking edgers in a green that matches the paper.  This made the ivory a little less stark.  It doesn't show well in the photos, but I love the look in my book.

Fall Memories Layout

 Welcome to another reveal for Paper Crafter Anonymous.  I am playing with the papers from my recent haul.  This is the Pathfinding paper as well as a few chipboard stickers and accessories. The banner and words are from Simple Stories.
     I loved this photo of my mom and son when he was about ten months old, but I didn't want to overwhelm it with patterns since the background was busy.  The orange leaf paper from the Pathfinding collection was just interesting enough.
    The heart banner behind the photo was actually the strip of paper you cut off the bottom of a 12x12 sheet.  If you've followed my blog lately I've been loving finding ways to use these in layouts to extend the paper pack.

Christmas Morning Layout

     Hi all - Thanks for visiting me today as I share a layout I created based on the Week 2 sketch from Let's Get Sketchy.  When I saw the three photos on the sketch I knew it was perfect for these photos from our son's second Christmas. He was just about a year old and absolutely loved the train table we purchased.  He'll be four next month and still plays with it daily.
     My papers are from an older Stampin Up collection, and I unfortunately don't remember the name.  The tag at the top is a very light matching green, but didn't photograph well from a distance so I did a close up to show the shape.

Southern Girls Reveal - Word Challenge

     Welcome to another reveal at Southern Girls Challenge. This time we are challenging you to use lots of words on your project.
     For my project I started with an older DCWV paper stack called Linen Closet.  I loved this, but have only ever been able to find the mat stack so I used it mainly for cards and hoard it like there's no tomorrow.  Anyone else do that with your favorite papers?
     I then pulled out one of the Stamps of Life sets I purchased the Somerset, NJ Scrapbook Expo.  I am absolutely in love with this set, and it's matching dies.  Having the dies makes the cup, and label, so easy to use.  Click Here to see everything I purchased at the expo.
     I used chocolate ink from Color Box for my stamping...a freebie I got at the expo  To give a little interest I just added three My Minds Eye wooden dots.
     I'm going to make a whole set of matching cards to give to my coffee obsessed sister.  Anyone she sends them too will certainly know it's from her.  Would love to see what you come up with for the words challenge.  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!
