Saturday Snuggles | Secret Not Secret Kit Club

Hey Crafty Friends!  It's been awhile, but I'm back with a new project.  I actually took the pictures today, scrapped the photos today and am now blogging it all in the same day...who am I??
This layout was created for the December scrapping party at The Secret Not Secret Kit Club.  I can't wait to get my first kit from them and share it with you.
The first challenge of the day was getting sketchy with Meggy and a sketch by Laura of Beads Buttons and Birds.  Of course I had to take the sketch and flip it on it's side because why leave anything the way it's shown right!
The photos are of my kiddos this morning.  We didn't have anywhere to rush off to...it was snowy...perfect for just relaxing.  After breakfast they snuggled together to watch some cartoons and then J toddled over to snuggle with the puppy for a bit.
If you followed me for a bit you know I'm trying to kill my stash, and at very least my kits.  99% of this layout came from an old (circa 2015) My Creative Scrapbook kit that focused heavily on the Family Frenzy line from Bella Blvd.  The collection is so old that I couldn't even find any on Amazon!
Most of my accents however came from the Simple Stories We Are Family collection.  The photo stickers came in white, black and color so those were fun to spread around the page along with their self adhesive brads.  I'm usually not great at mixing collections, but these came together easily.
I added some enamel dots, various labels from my stash and some Heidi Swapp color shine in Black Velvet before calling the layout done.
I think that's it for now.  If you want to see more layouts I've done with this kit be sure to check out A Boy and His Dog and Kiss Kiss.  Thanks for joining me today, and until next time.  Stay Crafty!

Then...Now | Simple Stories | Secret Not Secret Kit Club

Hey friends.  Can you believe I have two posts in one day!?  This layout was inspired by two things.  I recently joined The Secret Not Secret Kit Club and the owner Khristina  posted a challenge to created a layout inspired by your favorite tv show.  I paired that challenge with the November 1st sketch from Stuck?Sketches.
I have to say this was a really hard challenge for me because Supernatural isn't a happy happy show, but I didn't want to make a dark layout and I honestly don't have anything I would consider dark.
I ended up using the So Rad collection by Simple Stories.  I used pieces of the 12x12 collection, some of the 4x6 cards, some self adhesive brads, die cuts and enamel dots.
I think with what I picked wasn't happy per se, but the colors brought some life to a darker theme show.  I also added some things from my stash to complete the look I was going for.  The washi tape was from an old Freckled Fawn kit, the twine is from My Mind's Eye and I inked the edges of the paper with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.
One tip I have is if you want to add small journalling strips like I did is to use a xyron machine to add adhesive.  I used the small x shaped one for these so it didn't use up my nine inch machine cartridge.  I have previously used a glue pen, but every layout I used them on the strips have fallen off, but I haven't had any trouble with the xyron.
To finish it of I added some of the best quotes from the show.  One from each of the main characters.
Okay, enough rambling for now - let me get back to creating.  Until next time...stay crafty!

National Scrapbook Day with Felicity Jane

Hi Scrappy Friends!  I hope you had a wonderful National Scrapbook Day.  I only finished one layout, but I did an hour long live video on my Facebook page and that was great fun.
The layout I completed was for several challenges.  I used a the national scrapbook day sketch from Scrapbook Generation combined with Victoria Marie's grid challenge.  I also used my March kit from Felicity Jane.

A grid layout created with the Felicity Jane Caroline Kit
This is the first layout I made with my Felicity Jane kit, and I absolutely loved it.  The colors all matched so perfectly, and I was able to use their embellishments and some I made myself to created this adorable layout of our daughter.
The embellishment that I made myself was the tag.  I cut it from white cardstock and sprayed it with Blush Color Spray from Heidi Swapp.  I added a die cut from the kit and added some tiny words from Freckled Fawn, a punched heart and some enamel dots.
I really love how this turned out and can't wait to hear what you all think.  What did you do for National Scrapbook Day?

Creating A Unique Star Wars Birthday Scrapbook Layout

Hey scrappy friends!  I'm here today with another guest post for the challenge blog Use Your Stuff. This time we were challenged to make something inspired by the Star Wars film.
I had no trouble knowing exactly which photos I wanted to use on this one. The large photo is my brother-in-law on his birthday in the Chewbacca suit we bought him, and the bottom photo is some Storm Troopers from Star Wars night a the local zoo.
Star wars scrapbook layout featuring Simple Stories - Freckled Fawn - Heidi Swapp and the silhouette cameo
So when I first thought about how to make this Star Wars themed beyond the photos I thought of the opening credits and the galaxy look.  The patterned paper on the bottom that gives that same look is from Simple Stories - Heart Collection.  I also used star washi from Heidi Swapp to try to tie in the Star Wars theme.  The rest is just various dollar washi I've picked up along the way with some Freckled Fawn embellishments thrown in.  Oh, and last but not least I found the sketch on pinterest.  It didn't lead back to a post, but the photo said it was from Sketchy Thursdays.
For the really fun stuff though I just googled some Star Wars images and used the print and cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo. The title is a Master Yoda-esque quote that I cut with the Star Wars font in the color of the original title.
I hope this shows you how easy it is to combine your stash to get a great layout...even if the elements (love paper) aren't themed for the exact topic.  Leave me a link with what you create to enter the challenge and I'll be sure to come take a look!

The Best Layout

So I'm back today with a stash busting layout inspired by sketch 472 from Scrapbook Challenges. There is a little bit of everything on this layout. The background paper is from my February my Creative Scrapbook Kit.  The paper under the photo is from Simple Stories.  The washi, wood veneer and stars are from Freckled Fawn.  The fiber and OX symbol are from Studio Calico.
The grey dot is modeling paste mixed with grey paint and put through a swiss dot stencil.  The wood veneer also was plain when I started.  I smeared some pink Gelato on them and then moved it around with an aqua brush.  I then dried with my heat tool, and added a second layer to intensify the color and have it offer a contrast from the pink in the washi.
This is a totally different, and girly, layout for me, but I'm very pleased with how it came out.  I'd love your comments!

Tractor Boys

Thanks for joining me for another layout share!  I'm thankful for all your views and comments.  This layout was created with the free sketch that Scrapbook Generation put on their new Facebook challenge site.  Be sure to look them up at SG Scrap Squad.
I used at WRMK collection designed by Teresa Collins that I've had in my stash forever.  Some Freckled Fawn embellishments, doodling, Tim Holtz splatters and I was done.  Easy peasy on this one and I was pleased with how the colors popped on black!

Boo Boo Layout

I'm up today with a another reveal for ScrapMuch!?  I'm much for pleased with how this one came out than the last!
I don't normally scrapbook the non-perfect photos, but this memory had to be captured.  Our son was goofing around in the tub sliding on his bottom and in the time I took for us to say stop he knocked his head on the side...split this eye lid right open.  I actually thought he'd have to get stitches :-(  He thankfully just ended up with a black eye for a few days...over our vacation.  We got lots of strange looks that year.
Except for my Heidi Swapp roller stamp and thickers...everything came from the Fancy Pants Be Different Collection.  This is an older collection, but most of it can still be purchased online.  I had the 6x6 pad and some embellishments, but picked up the 12x12 paper and more embellishments at the recent expo I attended.
Have you attended an expo recently?  I'd love to see what you created with your purchases and/or what you created with this reveals sketch.  Also, before you go please join my blog...there are lots of different ways to be notified when I post new layouts.  Thank you!

So Handsome Layout

Every time Laura releases a new sketch to us I'm just so excited to get started...this assignment for ScrapMuch!? was no different.  Doesn't this sketch leave so much room for some fun things!?

I knew exactly what photo I wanted to use when I saw this....our son's four year old photo shoot.  This had to be some of the easiest photos we have ever had taken.  We walked into the portrait studio and were out in three minutes...literally...he smiled and did exactly what she said and we had awesome photos to choose from!
I used mainly the Echo Park Jack & Jill collection for this.  The blue and orange was perfect to match our son's outfit and the feel of the wood background.  The fair is from A Flair For Buttons on Etsy.  If you haven't checked Shelley's shop out you really need too.  The orange dot washi is from Queen & Co and the orange cross hatch washi is from Freckled Fawn.  I think that Freckled Fawn washi has been on almost every layout I've done since it was received...I just love it!
I also created a process video on this layout.  It can be found on my youtube channel...here.  I'd love to know your thoughts on the video!
Well - enough yacking from me for now :-)  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Trucks Rule Layout

It's time for another ScrapMuch!? reveal with what I promise is the last of the monster truck pictures. I'll admit when I first saw the sketch I was a bit stumped as circles and brackets aren't my forte, but that is what's awesome about sketches...you can interpret them in your own style.
I used the June creative kit from My Creative Scrapbook that contained a ton of the Bella Blvd Color Chaos collection.  I kept the embellishment clusters in the same place as the sketch..dropped the bracket and turned the two photos into four.  The enamel dots are from Doodlebug and the title in from the Freckled Fawn April kit.  The word stickers from Bella Blvd I edged in Copic markers that matched the other colors I was using.     Despite my changes I think you can still see the sketch in my layout.  What do you think?  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Seriously?! Truck Layout

So I'm back with another layout from our trip to see Monster Jam!  I promise there is only one more trucks layout :-)  I had so many more great pictures from this event, but I tried to pick only some of our favorites.
Even though I missed the deadline to enter for the prize I loved the June 1st sketch over at Stuck!? as I thought the circle element was perfect for a Monster Truck ring. I did flip the sketch though to accommodate the orientation of my photos and I traded the one photo on the bottom for two smaller ones.
The papers are from Bella Blvd's Color Chaos collection and came as part of my June creative kit form My Creative Scrapbook. This is my second layout made from the contents of the kit...I have another coming up next week...and I still have enough paper/embellishments to do many more.
The stickers are all from the Bella Blvd collection, but my accents come from various other places.  The orange washi is from a Freckled Fawn kit.  While the name dots are from DoodleBug and the Seriously title is a Simple Stories Snap card.  A little tip for you...the quote sticker in the right hand side didn't pop enough again my white background.  I took one of my comics and edged the sticker in an orange that matched the washi and it looks so much better.
Well, that's it for now.  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Happy 3rd Birthday

If you're looking for the Scrap Our Stash Blog Hop please scroll down to the next post or click HERE

I'm up today with another reveal for the ScrapMuch? design team using a fabulous sketch from Laura Whitaker. This time I turned the sketch sideways to fit this adorable photo of my nephew when he turned three last month.

Since the photo didn't have a lot of obviously colors I had some trouble choosing a color palette, but once I got rocking it went very smoothly.  The paper is an Echo Park collection called That's My Boy.  The title, washi, and flair badge are both from my Freckled Fawn subscription kit...totally still in love with that subscription.  Seriously, you need to check it out.
So what do you think of this weeks sketch, and my take on it...would love to hear your comments.  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Scrap Our Stash June Blog Hop

Hi All and welcome to the June Scrap Our Stash Blog Hop.  You should have arrived from Suzanna's blog...doesn't she do great work!?
I choose to make a pocket letter for this months hop.  I had a swap to fulfill so it was perfect timing.  I used the 2012 Echo Park Collection Hello Summer for most of this letter.  Three of the card embellishments (the flip flops, ice cream and camera) are from the Paradise Beach collection released the same year.  I did cheat a bit and the & symbol and the popcorn sticker on the top left card are from my Freckled Fawn kit.
I used crystal lacquer on the ice cream card in the corner.  Each scoop had dots so I put the lacquer on each of the dots...it gave a cool look and nice dimension to that pocket. My partner has already received this and I'm so glad she loved it.

So now you're off to Jennifer's blog to see the amazing project she created.  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Monster Jam

So I've had my eye on the creative kit from My Creative Scrapbook for a couple months now.  Last week they had a promotion that if you signed up you received a free Julie Nutting doll stamp and prize pack.  Well that was enough that it tipped me over the edge.  What I really liked was you could sign up for two months as a trial.  I have signed up previously for kits that require a six month commitment and after two months of lousy kits realized I was stuck.  I like have the chance to try these first.
My first kit came yesterday, and I dove right in.  I will have an open box going on on you tube shortly if you want to see what all was in the kit.  It was jammed packed of things that matched!  That was my frustration with a previous kit club...you got bits and pieces from this and that collection/designer and nothing really matched anything else.  This could all be used together. The kit also came with a copy of the monthly sketch from their blog called My Creative Sketches, which is what I used for the layout below.  The paper is from the kit and is part of the Bella Blvd Color Chaos collection.  The orange dots are modeling paste mixed with pearl pen and put through a Tim Holtz stencil.  The embellishments come from various companies including Freckled Fawn, Doodlebug, Queen & Co and Stampin' Up.
I don't usually work on black, but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone.  It will definitely take some getting used to.  How do you think it came out?  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Southern Girls Goodbye

Time for my last reveal at Southern Girls Challenge Blog as they are changing their design team format.  Can you believe I've been with them for 16 months!  I've made lots of cool projects, and appreciate them giving this challenge newbie a chance.
The challenge this go round is to use white/cream - mint green and/or turquoise and coral and/or pink.  I used an old Studio Calico Kit for my paper and embellishments from Doodlebug and the Freckled Fawn April Kit called Oh Deer Me to create this pocket letter.  This is one of my favorite so far...right up there with the beach ones I did.
Today is also hubby and I's ten year anniversary! So...if I can get 20 comments (ten for our marriage and ten more for ten more years) I will give away a prize.  We're so happy today so I want to share that with you.  Until next time...Happy scrapping!
