Adeline Grace | Stuck ? Sketches | Echo Park

Hey friends!  Happy black Friday.  Are you out shopping early this am?  Hubby has to work so even if I wanted to it just wouldn't work for our family.  Instead I'm here to share a layout with you.
I created this layout of my newborn niece using the November 15th sketch over at Stuck ? Sketches. If you've followed me for any amount of time you know I love their challenges.
I'll admit when my sister-in-law gave me Adeline's photo I panicked a bit...purple...I don't own anything purple, but I think I made it work with the pink I have well.
The base cardstock is purple and then I used a brown piece of patterned paper that when matched with the rusts/purple of Adeline's wrap.  The pink piece that is under the journalling card is a frame that I cut into two pieces.  This way it adds dimension and interest.  The rest of the pieces are various papers and stickers from the Echo Park Bundle Of Joy Collection.

Since the paper collection didn't have any purple in it I had to tie it all together somehow.  I choose to cover the two pink flowers on the journalling card with purple sparkle ones from Hobby Lobby.  They also had a tiny wooden bead in the center so they add a textural/dimensional element as well.
For being panicked about purple I'm really happy with how this came out, and I hope my sister-in-law loves it too. If you are looking for other newborn ideas please check out my Hello Baby layout! Until next time...stay crafty!

Happy First Birthday | Echo Park | Stuck ? Sketches

Hey Scrappy Friends!  Finally here this month with a completed layout.  I've been MIA trying to get our sons birthday party planned (projects coming up from that) and getting design team project done in advance.
For today's layout I used the October 1st sketch from Stuck ? Sketches.  If you've followed me for any length of time - you know I love Laura's work.  I loved this sketch and used it for pictures from our sons 1st birthday party...yes he's turning 7 next month...don't judge...lol
The paper is all from Echo Park's Boy Birthday Wishes collection. The orange party balloon paper is my favorite in the collection along with the spots.  Both were neutral enough to use almost anywhere on the page, but also had enough pattern to make it interesting.
The sketch called for a tag and cluster in the lower left of the page. Let me tell you how much I struggle with that.  I actually recorded this for a process video on my youtube channel and that portion alone took me over 30 minutes.  I finally realized that I was trying to interpret the sketch to literally.  When I gave myself more freedom the corner cluster came together quickly.
To finish the page off I added some of my homemade enamel dots, and outlined the main part of my layout with my favorite sharpie pen.  Hope you have enjoyed learning some about my creation.  I'd love to see what you are working on.  Until next time...stay crafty!

4Ever Friends | Felicity Jane | Stuck Sketches

Hey Crafty Friends!  My post today is a layout I created for the September 15th sketch over at Stuck Sketches. If you've followed me for any amount of time you know I love Laura's sketches.

Wedding layout created with Felicity Jane Summer kit

I did alter the sketch just a bit moving the photo and adding a cluster up at the top left of the page.  This is the best part about using sketches...you can alter them to make it work the photo, or supplies, you have.

For this layout I again used my Felicity Jane Summer kit.  The flower paper and soft colors made for great wedding layouts.  I do promise though that I have layouts coming up not using the kit....haha So, until next time I'll leave you with another close up of my clusters.  Stay crafty!

Beach Carbs | Felicity Jane

Hey scrappy friends!  I'm here today with a layout inspired by Laura's sketch over at Stuck ? Sketches.  I don't usually do layouts that are all strips as they are a challenge to me, but I figured since I'm challenging myself with the no buy I'd also challenge myself to try sketches that I normally would shy away from.
I'm still working on killing my Felicity Jane Summer kit, and this one was made with branding strips, washi and cut up pocket page cards.
The embellishments were also from the kit, but I added my homemade enamel dots, and one of the doilies that I bought in a pack of 1,000!  Leaving the doily white didn't give it enough umph so I colored it with a Mr. Huey's ink dauber that I received in a Studio Calico kit year and years ago.
The odd title came from a lack of letters left in my kit, but I does fit if you read my journalling.  Every year on the day my parents leave the beach we go for breakfast as a place called Royal Treat.  They have the biggest breakfast I've ever seen, and thick Italian toast...it must be two inches thick.  So the name does fit.
I also turned the turquoise project life card the "wrong way to make the scallops look more like stripes, and I used the black and white stripe branding strip to fit challenge over at Lasting Memories.
Hope you enjoyed reading about my process, and I hope to be back soon with new layouts and even a process video.  I've been so busy just creating that I haven't stopped to filmed anything.  Until next time then...stay crafty!

What A Guy | Bella Blvd | Movie Monday Challenge

On the last Monday of each month, a group of bloggers participate in a #MovieMondayChallenge, hosted by C'mon Get Crafty! We decide on a topic, genre, or specific movie to use for inspiration and everyone gets free reign to create something wonderful!
Now let's see what everyone else was inspired to create for this month's #MovieMondayChallenge!! If you'd like to join our Facebook group, you can request an invite here.

My movie was School of Rock with Jack Black.  IMBD describes the movie like this: "After being kicked out of a rock band, Dewey Finn becomes a substitute teacher of a strict elementary private school, only to try and turn it into a rock band." On the poster of the movie Jack is also rocking a guitar.  I knew right where I was going to go with this!
My husband plays bass guitar on the worship team at church, and I have some awesome pictures that people have gotten of him playing.  I'm sure the one on the left  doesn't look so awesome on the computer, but in person it's awesome.  Everything is dark and you can just make out my hubby against the lighting.
The other thing I used for inspiration was a sketch from Stuck?Sketches.  If you are a scrapbooker they have awesome sketches twice a month and I highly suggest checking them out.

Most of the goodies on my page are from an older Bella Blvd collection called Max. If this is your first time with me, I am on a year long no buy challenge with some friends so I am working on using old collections up. To use more of the collection I cut the guitar and tape embellishment from the paper and posed them up using foam dots.  I also added some of my homemade enamel dots, Bella Blvd stars and some Heidi Swapp Color Shine.

I thank you for checking out my creation today, and I hope you'll link up with us showing yours.  Until next time...stay crafty!

Instasweet | Stuck ? Sketches | Simple Stories

Hey Scrappy Friends!  Back today working with a new collection in my stash buster challenge.  Today I'm working with the Simple Stories Hello Baby collection.  I received a friends remainder of this kit.  She had already made a mini album out of this.  I used her bits and pieces to made two layouts (one already shared here) and a mini album that I'll share later via video.
My inspiration for this layout came from the July 15th sketch over at Stuck?Sketches.  The doily is from the dollar store and I used a scallop punch on the border on the right side. The words cute, love and cupcake were all fussy cute from 2x2 snap squares.  I chose the cupcake as an embellishment because J's dress has a cupcake on it.
This one came together very quickly and I LOVE how it turned out.  Have you been doing any scrapping this summer?  Leave me a comment and I'll drop by to see your creation too.  Until next time...stay crafty!

40th Birthday | Felicity Jane

Hey Scrappy Friends!  Welcome to another Felicity Jane Caroline kit layout. I created this one at the crop I went to using the July 1st sketch by Laura Whitaker for Stuck ? Sketches.

Adult birthday layout featuring the Felicity Jane Caroline kit
I'll admit that this one a challenge for me before it called for a big title...not something I usually use.  The size of the alphabet in this kit though made it a touch easier!
Everything here is from the kit except for the Heidi Swapp color shine (Black Velvet) and the Sharpie Pen I used to outline my letters and do my journaling.  I love how with the kits I don't really need to add anything...just open and go!
I think this is the last layout I will share on the blog.  I have some others as a guest post on P.S. I Love You Crafts and some on my YouTube channel so  be sure to check them out.  Until next time...stay crafty!

Happy Scrapbook Layout | Felicity Jane

Hey Scrappy Friends!  Welcome to my last layout for the month of June.  This layout was inspired by the June 15th sketch over at Stuck? Sketches.   Laura always has inspiring sketches and I'm so glad she shares them with us.
For this layout I used the May Willow kit from Felicity Jane. The colors were perfect for my photo.  Hubby and I were at Tybee Island in this photo and I was about five months pregnant with our son Michael.
I will have a process video on my channel next month about how I created this.  I'm honestly not 100% sure I love it, but anything more I tried to add just was too much.  The triangles are Liquitex Modeling Paste that I colored with some Studio Calico color theory (05) paint mixed with some Heidi Swapp Mustard Color Shine.  I mixed the two to create a shade that matched my die cut title and the paper I backed my photo with.
The stamping is done with stamps from Felicity Jane's June kit summer and Stazon-On Jet Black Ink. I like using the Staz-On because I don't have to worry if my surface is mat like my paper or coated like my tags.
Okay - well...I better run.  Little lady wants her lunch.  Thanks for joining me today and until next time.  Keep scrapping!

Believe

Back today for layout I created for a dual purpose....check my youtube in a few days for the second.  The main reason I create this page was the awesome sketch by Laura Whitaker over at Stuck Sketches.  It was perfect for using up the bits an pieces I had left in my December 2016 My Creative Scrapbook kit. I actually only have one full piece of paper left from the kit, and I've done five layouts and two projects so far.  Hope it inspires you to get your scraps out!

Rub-A-Dub-Dub Layout

Hi all!  We're experiencing winter weather here today so I'm "stuck" inside and getting to work on thing around the house and in my scrappy area..oh darn...lol
I'm sharing with you today a layout I created using the January 15th sketch over at Stuck?.  I challenged myself on this one because I don't usually choose to work with sketches that are like photos strips, but I really enjoyed how this came out.
The paper I used was from an old Echo Park collection called All About A Boy.  It was my favorite collection ever I think, and the layouts I completed his month killed the kit.  Happy to have stash used up, but sad at the same time that my favorite collection is gone.  Anyone else go through that with their favorite collections?

Zoo Fun

Welcome to my first completed layout of 2016.  Hope you have had a great start to the new year.
This layout has several new things for me...gesso and the packaging technique that I learned from Adele at Inkie Quill's videos.  So I used gesso on the page and them some modeling paste.  I  took some mist on a piece of old packaging, added water, and them smooshed it over the modeling paste.  I wanted to mimic the splashes the penguin was making in he water on the zoo smart car.
The paper is from an old Lawn Fawn collection called into the woods.  I didn't have any embellishments from this collection...if it even had any...so I cut some of the critters from the paper to use.  I figured they were appropriate since the page was about a trip to the zoo.
I used a sketch from Stuck?Sketches and then used some Simple Stories photo flap thingies to add more photos. The journalling is also under the floppy thing so that the memory is there, but not adding to the busyness of the layout.
Hope you enjoyed my attempt at trying something new!

Wedding Party

I am hear today sharing a wedding layout that I completed using the December 1st sketch from Stuck? Sketches.  I changed the two photos to one large one and I used the flourish in the right corner to mimic the top of the sketch with a cluster of embellishments.  No title here because it's going in my wedding album so we all know what it's about :-)
So tell me your tricks to getting straight photos!  This layout is cock-eyed, but I noticed it looks that way in my photo.  I had it lined up with the edge of my table so it must be how I was standing.  What do you do to get the photos straight?

Seriously?! Truck Layout

So I'm back with another layout from our trip to see Monster Jam!  I promise there is only one more trucks layout :-)  I had so many more great pictures from this event, but I tried to pick only some of our favorites.
Even though I missed the deadline to enter for the prize I loved the June 1st sketch over at Stuck!? as I thought the circle element was perfect for a Monster Truck ring. I did flip the sketch though to accommodate the orientation of my photos and I traded the one photo on the bottom for two smaller ones.
The papers are from Bella Blvd's Color Chaos collection and came as part of my June creative kit form My Creative Scrapbook. This is my second layout made from the contents of the kit...I have another coming up next week...and I still have enough paper/embellishments to do many more.
The stickers are all from the Bella Blvd collection, but my accents come from various other places.  The orange washi is from a Freckled Fawn kit.  While the name dots are from DoodleBug and the Seriously title is a Simple Stories Snap card.  A little tip for you...the quote sticker in the right hand side didn't pop enough again my white background.  I took one of my comics and edged the sticker in an orange that matched the washi and it looks so much better.
Well, that's it for now.  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Partners In Crime For Lasting Memories

If you following me on Instagram you've seen a sneak peak of my Partner's in Crime layout for the new Lasting Memories Challenge using the February 15th sketch over at Stuck? I wasn't able to submit this for the challenge, but I loved the sketch so much I wanted to it anyway.
I used products from the My Mind's Eye Remarkable collection for my paper choices.  I also used some of the collections embellishments along with wood veneers from Studio Calico and sprays from Heidi Swap and Tattered Angels.  I also used an Amy Tangerine roller stamp for stamping on my tags.
The photo is one from when our son was very under two and Daddy has just gotten home from work. They are so happy to see each other!  My journalling says..."You and Daddy have so much fun together, but also know exactly how to push each others buttons."
I'm just so happy with how this one turned out.  So who's your partner in crime?  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Hush Layout

Wow - I'm here with a layout I did just for me...not for a team.  That feels awesome!  I really liked the inspiration from Stuck?! Sketches and ScrapMuch?.
The ScrapMuch? color challenge asked you to use four of the six colors.  I choose the two shades of aqua and grey for my papers, and the green is in the outfit our son is wearing.  I guess in this case his puppy was the perfect pillow for afternoon nap.
The paper, and stickers, are from the My Mind's Eye Sweetest Things: Bluebell collection.  I really love MME goodies.  I wish more was available locally.  The doily is a Tim Holtz on the dye die.  I had purchased a few doily's in the past and never seemed to have the right color.  With the die...problem solved.
So what do your think of the challenges and my interpretation?  I'd love to have your comments.  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

December Daily Cover for Southern Girls Challenge

Hi everyone and welcome to my final 2014 reveal for Southern Girls Challenge. Don't worry...I'll be back with more great inspiration for them in 2015.  We were asked to inspire you with projects that had a Christmas theme.  I am here today sharing my December Daily cover!
I started with the layout sketch over at Stuck?Sketches.  Since they do layouts I'm not sure I can enter it into their challenge, but I'll take inspiration where-ever I can get it and my mojo has been laking lately.  I flipped the sketch on it's side and went from there.
Except for the red ribbon, bling and possibly the snowman (can't remember which pack he was in) all the products are part of the Simple stories DIY collection.  I can't get enough of this collection.  I think it's one of my favorite Christmas ones of all time. I inked all the paper edges with my prima inkers in green to make them pop off the craft cover.
So tell me...what is your favorite Christmas paper collection past or present?
    Until next time...Keep Scrappin!

Happy 3rd Birthday Layout

Have you ever had one of those crafting moments where it all just comes together?  This layout was like that for me.  I saw the sketch over at Stuck? and knew exactly what pictures and paper I wanted to use.
I used a combination of Doodlebug papers from an older fourth of July collection, called Stars and Stripes, the Boys Only collection and the newer Hip Hip Hooray.  I think being able to mix and match is one of my favorite things about Doodlebug.  Since the company's color hues always remain consistent I can mix and match the non-specific patterns, or side b's, to extend the life of my papers.
I used my prima chalk ink in Faded Jeans on the edges of my paper cuts to make them pop a little more again the white.  The embellishments are some of my favorite - washi tape, sprinkles and few ink splatters from my Heidi Swapp color shine collection.  Easy Peazy...
Tell me though...what is your favorite thing about Doodlebug papers?  Until next time...Keep Scrappin!
