Happy Birthday Layout

Welcome to another snow day post.  This one I completed using the January 15th sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap.  It was perfect to highlight this larger photo of our family from our sons 2nd birthday back in 2012.
The paper is a combination of a really old DoodleBug Collection and just and old Doodlebug Collection called Hip Hip Hooray.  I outlined the brackets and ampersand to highlight them again the patterned paper.  I also did some hand doodling to look like stitching along the edge of all the papers. In person it really set the design off nicely.

Splash Layout

Welcome back to another Scrapping Our Stash blog hope.  I'm so excited to be participating two months in a row, and honestly my paper just made the qualification since the new releases started coming out last week.
You should have arrived here from Laura's blog...didn't she have an awesome project!
My project was inspired by a Sketch~N~Scrap sketch with the twist of old/vintage photos.  I didn't have any vintage photos, but the ones I am using are from when our son was about 18 months...he's now about 4 months away from being five!
The paper is from Carta Bella's Soak up the Sun collection.  The green washi has been in my stash for years and the orange is from Freckled Fawn.  I used some modeling paste for the stars and some other random Freckled Fawn embellishments.
I know there is a large journalling area on this page, which is not like me, but there was actually a large story I wanted to remember about these photos.  The title is some Doodlebug chipboard letters.  I love them, but they have been sitting in my stash for quite sometime since they are so big.
You also may have noticed that the upper left corner looks a little wonky. I promise that is not due to a bad photo, but will be part of the memory now.  I was playing catch  with our son with a soft ball in the basement and wouldn't you know he managed to knock a glass of water all of over my scrap desk!  I thought about re-doing the layout and then thought...nah....I'll just add some journalling to the back and it will be part of the memory!
Now I send you off to Audrey's blog to see what amazing creation she has for us this month.  Until next time...Keep scrapping!

Boys Will Be Boys

When I saw the July 1st sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use, and it came together in right around an hour.  An hour is probably a first for me as I tend to agonize over every little embellishment.
The paper is an old boys collection from Echo Park that I have been hoarding, but I'm really trying to get through my stash as there are so many new collections I want to buy.  The flair is from an awesome Easy shop called A Flair For Buttons.  Some Bella enamel dots, Studio Calico wood veneer and Jillibean Soup ephemera and I was ready to go.
What do you think of the sketch and my take?  Will you use it?  I want to see if you do!  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

9 Month Baby Boy Layout

For the first year of our sons life I took him to the portrait studio once a month and had some 8x10's taken since they were only 2.99 a sheet.  I love having the large photo showing all his growing features and we staged each photo to show some of what he was doing that month.  The only problem I have is scrapping that one big photo.  When I saw the inspired by challenge at Sketch~N~Scrap this month using one large photo I had to jump on it to get some of my photos done.
During this month we had gone to my Uncle's cabin and road four wheelers.  I used some cork paper by Studio Calico and some camo paper I've had in my stash for about 3 years.  If I had to guess the camo paper was from The Paper Studio.  All the embellishments except the wood circles I believe are Studio Calico as well.  Was so happy to get this photo scrapped and was happy with the way it came out.
Do you have a size photo that you find challenging to get done?  Until next time....Keep Scrapping!

Child's Play Challenge - Cootie Layout

Time for another fun reveal over at Child's Play Challenge.  Our challenge this time is the game Cooties.  Our son had received this game at this last birthday, and I knew I had some photos of the first time we played on my phone.  They aren't the greatest since it was night time and impromptu photos, but they were perfect for this challenge, and a fun memory.
I used a sketch from Sketch~N~Scrap and flipped it on it's side to accommodate the portrait orientation of my photos.  I went with space themed items since I figured Cooties can't be from Earth.  If you've never played the game they are these silly bug type creatures with funny eye, strange attentions and a million legs.  My thought on the sequins is they would mimic the stars in space.  Almost all the supplies on this page are from Supplies by Scrapstuffz on Facebook...check her page out for great deals!
I hope you find my layout fun and inspiring, and I hope you'll pop over and join us for either July challenge.  Until next time...keep scrapping!

All Boy Card

Hey Everyone - I'm back two days in a row!  This morning my father and I were taking my son somewhere special so I didn't have to leave as early as normal, and I decided to make a quick card for the Sketch~n~Scarp card challenge, the Sister Act Card Challenge "Anything Goes", and the Craft Your Passion Boys challenge. Can you tell I love the Sketch~N~Scrap sketches - they always challenge me to use what I have!
I used one of my favorite collections from Echo Park - All Abut A Boy.  I cut the banners and arrow by hand, and then used an embossing folder for the background.  The dots are pearl pens...another favorite product of mine.
I've been on such a roll lately that I'm wondering when the mojo is going to end :-)  Until next time - keep scrapping!

Best Day Ever Layout

When I saw the new sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap, and the Old Is New challenge at A Cherry On Top  I knew right away what products I was going to use, and even what pictures.  I think this was one of the fastest layouts I've ever done.
I used the Simple Stories Sn@p Him collection, and my first cut from my new Silhouette.  I don't do pocket scrapbooking, but have several card collections to use for layouts like this. The chevron down the side is modeling paste mixed with some acrylic paint and put through a Tim Holtz stencil.  I need some practice on this technique, but I really love how it comes out, and the depth it gives my layout!
I'll be back soon with more new layouts.  Until then - keep scrapping!

Studio Calico Bluegrass Farms Home Layout

So when I saw the Etch-A-Sketch challenge over at the Child's Play blog my first thought was that I was out for this round.  The only thing I could ever draw was a house.  My mom dropped off a picture of her house a few days later for our son's album since he asks every day to visit Grandma, and I was ready to go! I ended up doing the layout for me though as the more I looked at it I kept thinking that no matter how old I get or where I go....my parents will always feel like home.
I think it took longer to get a half decent photo of my layout than it did to complete it!  The papers, stickers, and titles are from the April 2014 Studio Calico scrapbook kit Bluegrass farms.  The little orange bag that is holding my journalling is from the Fancy Pants Be Different collection.  The flair is by Janna Werner, and the washi is from my stash. I combined more products than I realized!
I also loved the May 15th sketch at Sketch~N~Scrap, and used that for the my design. They have such great inspiration month after month!

Spring Butterfly Card

So I've really been lacking in inspiration lately, but when I saw the new card sketch from Sketch~N~Scrap the mojo came right back.   This card came together in no time flat.
I flipped the sketch on it's side, but left the embellishments where they were.  I also moved the scallop to the top of the card and flipped it around as well.  I wasn't so sure I liked it as I was going, but when it was all done I was actually very pleased with it.

ScrapStuffz Inspired By February Reveal

Happy Valentine's Day!! Welcome to my February reveal as SSIB.  Let me say right off the bat how happy I am with how this layout came out.  It's the first layout in awhile that hasn't felt like work to get it to where I wanted it to be.
I started with the amazing colors and designs in the SSIB photo.  They matched perfectly with the flower from my 2005 wedding. I then saw Sketch #50 over at Sketch ~ N ~ Scrap and fell in love with that too.
As if that was not enough inspiration I also saw that Cards Galore had an add bling challenge, and I knew I was going to enter that one too. I used my wink of stella pens on the flowers, my thickets are white glitter, and there in bling in the upper right corner.  It's the first time in awhile that I'm combining challenges, and I think it came out lovely!

Happy Valentine's Card

We had another round of winter precipitation, and a delayed opening at work.  Normally I go in at 8:15…we didn't have to be there until one!!!  I used this opportunity to take on a few challenges.
I used the wonderful card sketch from Sketch ~ N ~ Scrap for the design layout of my card. I then used three different challenges for the embellishment of my card.  Craftin Desert Divas is having a color challenge.  It's red, white, and pink so I used those for my paper colors.  Cards Galore and Southern Girls are both having a bling challenge so that was very easy to combine. I also stamped the heart inside my hearts with Get Inky Stamps.  I hope you love how it came out because I do.

Ray of Sunshine Layout

If you are looking for the Get Inky Hop - Please click HERE

I had some fun pictures of our son playing at the beach...well as much playing as a nine month old does, but I was stuck on how to use them.  I then came across the Child's Play Monopoly challenge, and the arrow on the go tile of the board hit me.  I was going to use arrows since in the pictures he's upside down and sideways!
I also wanted to use the new Inspired By challenge over at Sketch ~ N ~ Scrap.  It was an awesome sketch!

The sketch only used one photo, but I wanted to use three so I grouped them all very closesly to achieve the same effect.  I also used my arrow strip to mimic the strip in the sketch, but also to place the round area at the corner of the photo just like the sketch embellishment. Some misting and enamel dots completed my sketch "copying".
If I was to do the layout again I think I would emboss the red paper (which is actually a red and brown tiny chevron) with swiss dots to match the outter dotted paper.  All in all I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

Sketch ~ N ~ Scrap Birthday Card

I have several things I want to work at this year in my crafting.  One is to make birthday cards, rather than buy, and another is to enter more sketch challenges.  I saw this sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap and fell in with it.

I started searching for my favorite winter scraps, and as I was sorting through I saw my few flower paper items and they called to me.  My SIL's birthday is next month and I thought they would be perfect for a card for her. I think it came out really cute, and I could see using this sketch again and again.

Sketch~N~Scrap - October 15th Challenge

When I started this blog, less than a year ago, I never imagined how many cool websites, blogs, companies and people I'd get to work with.
The ScrapStuffz Etsy Store is sponsoring the October 15th challenge at Sketch~N~Scrap so we were given the chance to be "guest" designers if we had the time.  How fun!
We were given this fabulous sketch to work with. There were so many different things you do with this even though it had some October themed items on it.

I chose to follow the layout of the items, but go with a completely different theme.  I did want to keep some of the distinct elements of the sketch so I worked in the arrows and the chevron.  You can't tell but the green washi directly above the arrow has arrows as well.
I hope this inspires you to hop on over to their blog, and enter their challenge.  A big thank you to Sketch~N~Scrap for letting me play along with them!
